Needing to put down a new lawn?
There are few different options.
Below you will find a bit of info on
these. For more info and any
questions please:
Lawn Care
If you want a lawn that looks beautiful then you will need to carry
out the following essential tasks.
Mowing The Lawn
Different types of grass have different optimum lengths and
mowing the lawn will help keep the grass vigorous and maintain a
neat appearance. Ensure your blades are set to the right height
and are sharp to achieve a clean cut.
Feeding The Lawn - Fertilizing
When and how often you should apply fertilizer to your lawn
depends on the type of grass you grow. Grasses need nitrogen
and other nutrients during their seasons of active growth, and
they grow best with an even supply. Fertilize grasses when it's
naturally dormant, and you're wasting fertilizer
Feeding the lawn with either organic lawn feed or non-organic
chemical lawn feeds is essential & should take place each spring
to help promote thick grass with strong growth that will make it
harder for moss and weeds to establish themselves on your lawn.
Watering The Lawn
Ensuring that your lawn does not suffer the effects of drought by
watering well in advance of the grass weakening and dying. Use
an appropriate lawn sprinkler to ensure that the lawn is evenly
and thoroughly watered. Water thoroughly when necessary, not a
small amount each day as this can do more harm than good.
Weed Spraying
The definition of a weed is completely context-dependent. To one
person, one plant may be a weed, and to another person it may
be a desirable plant. In one place, a plant may be viewed as a
weed, whereas in another place, the same plant may be
desirable. We can get rid of your weeds

Sowing New Lawns
Choosing Lawn Seed:
You've probably heard lots of advice from your neighbors. They probably
say that starting a new lawn is hard work best left to professionals. Or you
should bite the bullet and pay for sod. Why not give us a call & get a quote.
How the lawn is to be used will determine the type of lawn seed to sow .If
your lawn is for family use then choose a hard-wearing seed mix. If you
are looking for a fine manicured lawn then the finer seed will achieve this.
We will be able to advise you as to which is the best selection.
Your lush new lawn will need to be cared for throughout the year. A thick,
healthy lawn stops broadleaf and other weeds from becoming established.
Keep your lawn well watered. Well watered, well nourished lawns will have
a better chance of keeping weeds, pest insects and diseases at bay.
.Autumn is one of the best times to sow a lawn. Especially if after the heat
and stress of summer, now is a great time to rip it up and start again. Or if
you’ve had tents or a paddling pool in your backyard and the grass has
died, it’s time to fix that patch up.
To ensure you have a successful lawn the soil needs to be in the best
possible condition to give lawn seed the best chance of germination. When
starting a new lawn from scratch, spray the area to kill any existing grass
and weeds. When patching your lawn, spray weeds and any grass you
want to remove. Clear away weeds and grass once it has browned off.
Digging the soil should take place about 2 or 3 weeks (but not if it is going
to be rolled) before you want to sow or turf the lawn so that the soil has
time to settle after being loosened. If you do not let the soil firm and settle
after digging then you will find that the soil will settle after the lawn is
developed and dips and bumps will appear in the lawn.
Hydroseeding
•
Hydroseeding (Spray on Seed)
Hydroseeding (or hydraulic mulch seeding, hydro-mulching, hydraseeding)
is a planting process that uses a slurry of seed and mulch. It is often used
as an erosion control technique on construction sites, as an alternative to
the traditional process of broadcasting or sowing dry seed.
It is suitable for both domestic lawns and larger commercial areas, as well
as embankments to help control erosion.
The mulch mixture used in Hydroseeding helps to keep hungry birds at
bay, stops wind blowouts and erosion control. If watered correctly,
moisture is retained closer to the seed aiding in earlier germination.
Benefits of Hydromulching
The two primary benefits of Hydromulching are (one) even application, and
(two) fast germination of seeds. Most grass seeding companies make use
of a special hydroseeder which uses a hydraulically-driven mechanical
agitation to make sure that the materials are thoroughly blended, and a
centrifugal pump to achieve an even application consistently.
The reason why hydromulching germinates much faster compared to other
seeding methods is that the mulch is fully blended with the fertilizer water
and seeds.
Mulch also protects the soil from erosion.
If soil erosion is prevented or reduced, seeds are held in place, assuring a
more even lawn. Additionally, the mulch protects the seeds from wind, and
other activities. To learn more go HERE
Ready Lawns
Laying Ready Lawn
Lawns are often one of the most important parts of a garden. Although
laying a turf lawn is more expensive, it will give you an instant lawn that is
ready to walk on in just a month. Preparation is key when laying a turf lawn
and should really begin at least a month or so in advance, to give the soil
plenty of time to settle.
Mulching
Grass Mulching
Benefits of Mulching
The major benefit in mulching is that it returns nutrients to your lawn, so
your grass can grow healthy and thick. It also keeps the soil moist and
covered to keep the temperature down. You may not need to fertilize as
much, since you'll be gaining so much from the mulched clippings.
Mulching with your mower means you don't have to dispose of grass
clippings, and you don't have to take time to empty your grass bag. That's
less space in a landfill taken up with cut grass and less money you may
have to pay for someone to dispose of your yard waste.
Sharp Blades
The key to mulching is a good lawn mower. Ensuring that your blades are
sharp will help your mower cut each blade of grass into finer, more
lightweight blades of grass. Allowing each blade to blend in and mix with
your lawn is an important part of what makes mulching work.
What happens to the clippings
Cutting and re-cutting the blades of grass into tiny particles allows them to
wilt and break down much more quickly than when mown with a single cut.
A blade of grass contains more than 80% moisture, chopping it into fine
particles releases this moisture almost immediately so the recycling
process starts as you mow.
Grass clippings make an excellent slow release fertilizer if mulched
correctly; throwing away your grass wastes valuable nutrients.
If your lawn is the size of a tennis court you will collect an amazing 1¼ tons
of grass every year and waste 14.9685 of nitrogen, 13.6078 of potash and
4.53592of phosphate

the bag and switch to mulching.
